International Evening 2010

26 March 2010

International Evening is a major event in the calendar of Rotary Club Northampton and Inner Wheel. Every year Northampton's Rotarians and Inner Wheel members get together for a great night of entertainment, with guest speakers over a nice meal to raise money for a great cause. This year was no exceptions.

This year Rotary and Inner Wheel nominated to support REMIT and its efforts to eradicate malaria, Shelter Box Trust for disaster relief and Mercy Ships floating hospitals with the funds raised during this event. The venue selected was the St. George's Avenue Banqueting Suite, where there was capacity to seat well over 200 people for a three course meal. Rotarians and the members of Inner Wheel truly enjoyed themselves over a nice meal and drinks, with a chance of winning great tombola prices.

To top of the night, a British Conservative Party politician, television presenter and novelist Ann Widdecombe livened the scene as the guest speaker for the night. Ann entertained us all and stayed on to sign her books.

Members of Northampton's Apollo Rotary Club joined the scene and helped out with tombola ticket sales that night. Those of us that went had a truly great time as you can see from the pictures. After such a great night, all of us are looking forward to next year's International Evening.
