Welcome note from President
Rotary International has a long history of service in communities both locally and internationally. But times change and it is no longer possible for many of us to be involved in Rotary’s traditional lunch and breakfast meetings. Some of us combine careers with families and others commute long distances to work. So we decided to address this problem by meeting on Saturdays, providing a crèche facility and devoting two of our monthly gatherings to helping out in the local community and having a bit of fun in a social atmosphere. We chose the name Apollo after the Greek God of Healing and Light. We thought this was appropriate for us as we believe that the small things we do can sometimes have a big impact on others. We could equally have been named after the Apollo Mission which put the first men on the moon because what we are doing is somewhat unique in Rotary’s history. In a recent Mori Poll over 50% of respondents said they thought Rotary was an elite lunch club for business men who hand cheques over to dignitaries. Our Club couldn't be further from this. This website will give you details about our vision and our values as well as ways to join in. We conduct weekly meetings at 10:00am at the Holiday Inn on the Bedford Road in Northampton. We provide a crèche for children under 12 and ask only that you come to have fun. I hope you find our site useful and we always appreciate feedback so do not hesitate to email us your views on info@northamptonapollo.org |
